It is strange that I used to have bad dreams in this bunker. Some about Will and Beth being a pile of bones before the Robinsons came to save them. Now both of them are here. In a sewing circle talking about the world before the fire fell from the sky. Will is bad at it and Lily has been coaching him. His right eye is still swollen shut, but his left is open. He is doing a lot better with the pain meds we have in here. There was a whole bottle of anti inflammatories and all sort of other things. Probably why Ronin and Colonel Rives are still passed out. Finally having borken that pain cycle thier bodys can get some needed rest.
We almost missed the our house. Snow, ash and overgrowth changed the landscape a lot. Plus not having a home to look at made it easy to pass. During our last rest stop no monsters stopped to say hi. It didn’t make the trip anyless eeri. No other cars on the road, no sound of animals, and no lights around us. Only the sound of our car as we drove. The radio playing static if anything at all. It is like the world has gone back 1000 years. Which being the only thing on the road makes it a lot easier for things to track us.
Nature was doing its best to reclaim our old burned down house and snow covered the entrance to the shelter below. Lily got power back online while Beth and Lt. Gale dug out the door. I went to the old garage to find some part to replace the radio and get it up and running below. Ronin was my spotter encase I needed to run back to the car in a hurry. Which no charred showed up to attack us this time. Though I did get the scare of my life time in the garage. That one horned deer jumped out at me right when I opened the door. Almost needed a change of clothes after that. On side note I am glad he has made it through this year to. Even if he nearly made me wet myself. Also deer is quite tasty if ration start running low. It would have been wishful thinking that the monster would all be hiding to. At least it was only a small group of ghouls that founds. You know nothing to big maybe 20 or 30 of those rotten shambaling maybe ex human corpse. I saw them in the early morning before my watched ended. At first I thought it was other survivors. The ash was still running down, so easy mistake. Once they came closer I saw one of missing a arm and the other part of its torso. It was clear that we were in trouble. (more…)
Day 266 “Country roads”
The main road back to Daikon is blocked. A landslide of mud, snow, and trees covered the road. Which means if we wanted to go the quickest path It will be on foot. We have injured and they will not make it, so are heading home. Where our journey first started. Some of our forces have opted to make the trip back on foot though. I do not envy those people hiking through the forest. Most of that trip will be spent in Rad suits and masks. Which if you ever spent a long time in a gas mask it is not fun. Let alone trying to sleep in one. Don’t get me wrong we will be spending at least a few days in MOPP gear too. These Suv don’t have air filters and breathing in this air could be risky. With my head wound These mask hurt. Every time I adjusted it opens the wound back up. (more…)
