Day 336 “lest ye be”

We made it to the judge late in the night. I could barely work the lock on the door on the small cabin. My whole body shook from pain and exhaustion. Once inside we headed to the small bunker down below. It was an old root cellar convert to be a temporary shelter. The large steel door will give us some protection. There working water in here I have no clue how. I think it has a water storage tank somewhere nearby the collects rainwater and snow run off. Once I get back to Daikon I will ask Dad about it. Also no need to worry about borrowing beast here. They would have to dig through solid rock and thick walls to get us. Which should make enough noise for us to hear them coming. What was odd is the power was up and running when we got here.

It does not take a lot of power to run a few lights and a fan, but the batteries were charged and topped off. Someone must have been here recently. If the others made it here why not leave a note? There are MRE wrappers and trash all over the place.  Not like what an animal makes, but from people. I hope it was at least Lily that made it here. If they made it here there is hopes that they will be back. Unless they started the last leg of the journey to Diakon without us. Why would they not wait for us?

After we cleaned the place up a bit and made warm meal. It was time for some rest. Beth and I are still taking shifts on watch. As always I took first watch. Giving me a chance to look through some supplies and look for a radio beacon to Daikon. Once I found it, though it was already switched on. The Lily and the others must have been here. Why didn’t they wait for us? Something must be wrong from them not to stay here. What could it have been? I will have to ask them when I get to Daikon. Which will be so much more difficult with just the two of us. Beth and I have made it this far I know we can make it back.

Day 330 “The Wild Hunt”

Finally after another day of running from whatever is chasing us we got a break. Beth and I are hiding out under some fallen trees near a small stream. We had no choice, but to stop I can hardly walk due to cramps. It was time to hydrate and rest otherwise our bodies are going to hit the hard stop button. Like passing out or cramps so bad you can’t move then stroke out. After seeing SUV I now know we are alone out here. There is no help coming we are long out here. (more…)
