I think the title says it all for this one. We completed our steam engine got everything working and then it blew up. Okay not like a giant ball of fire more like a balloon with a small leak. When we were building it someone put a small hole in the pressure vissle. Thankfully no one got hurt. Everyone was wearing the appropriate safety gear and we started up the engine behind some plexiglass. Sort of depressing seeing our hard work go up in a ball of steam like that. Though most of the machine is salvageable. Mom said that during the time of the american industrial revolution that accidents like this were common. After school my fellow classmates got together for some more D&D.
There is a cult that is trying to bring about the end of the world and we have to stop them. During tonight’s campaign we almost didn’t make it. A couple of unlucky 1 rolls knocked two people out. Wights are serious monsters I think they have the ability to control dice rolls. Every time one showed up at no fewer than 5 “1” where rolled. It was a intense time exploring the town of Nulb. I would have like to play more, but everyone had work in the morning . These table tops nights have been a great way to relax and remember what it is like to have a normal life again. If only we could do this more often.
After we called it for the night on gaming everyone headed back home. I walked Beth back to the Robinsons cabin. Which you would have never guessed it they were not home. It was cold and windy tonight. Clouds hung low in the sky we are due for some snow in the next few days. All the new people have been crammed into the cafeteria to stay warm. Since the events of the castle at the end of the world there is a lot more room in there now. Thinking about that soured my alone time with Beth. She knew something was going inside my head and just left it at that. We just sat in her living room holding each others hands listing to the fire crackle in the hearth. It was a nice way to end the day. A little before 10 I left for home tomorrow will be a early day and calling in sick is hard when your Dad is your boss.

It has been over a week since I returned home from the nightmare castle. Sleep still has not come easily. I have taken up sleeping inside the shelter under the cabin. At first Mom protested then got over it once I told her about my nightmares. The monsters outside the walls dance in my dreams. Some nights it is the battle of the ghouls where I lost my fingers on my hand. Other nights the Crypt Wisp followed us back here and snuck into out cabin at night. The monsters are not what scares in it is the body of my slain friends and families that gets to me. I am always the last one the monsters go for. Thankfully they have only attacked me in my dreams. No monsters have attacked us in since coming back home. Though I was in for a surprise this morning (more…)
Today we buried all the people that passed away from the attack. We held The service at sunrise. The suns rose slowly warming us as the rays lit the predawn ground. Dad gave a simple eulogy. Listing the names of the fallen. There was ten in total that died during and after the attack. The Smiths family lost their oldest and youngest son. The Lopez family was wiped out of all five family members. Leaving an open cabin for a new family to move into. Yesterday the last Davis brother passed from his injury. Preceding his two other brothers. Had it not been for all these people I would not be here today. I attended the funeral with all the other veterans and their families. The bodies were buried in one large grave and a single headstone marked the people that lay to rest there. We gave our thanks and goodbyes. Then set out for work. Even though you feel like the world had stop, it goes on. It has been a long last seven day since the attack. The ghouls still keep attacking, but not in numbers like before. A few here and there. Most of them a ghastly remembrance of the person it once was. I have not been to the battle site since the attack, but am told the new ghouls that have arriving do not look pretty. Once they are dispatched they get their own funeral. Each day a tractor pushes the slayed ghouls into a pile to be burned that night. No one cries for them.
Even with it still running Mom kept us busy. Today in class we went over how to insert an IV again, splinting and human anatomy. Then we cataloged and organized all the medical supplies for the medical station. After that we remade all the first aid kits and placed them in key spots around the camp. On foot in the rain to every corner of the camp. Once all that was done she ran a mock medical code. Mom made us do five full cycle of CPR each. Doing CPR is one of the most intense workouts ever! Why can’t Mom give us a easy task. Good news the dummy made it. Then we spent the rest of the day making bread for everyone in camp. Dad did not check in at night. Mom tried for a good long while to reach him and only got static. From last night’s talk they should have reached the Gonzales today. I hope Dad is safe wherever he is.
