Day 227

It has been one week since basic has started. Nothing  but getting up early in a makeshift barracks, run drills until the evening, eat and then sleep. Next week basic will be over and the trip the front will start.  We will be on the front line for 6 months then will be released from duty. If at that time I wished to stay on my term will be for another 6 months. This has been the first chance I have had to write in all that time. Usually once it is night time it is bedtime my body is too sore to do anything else.

There has been some news on the road clearing team. Ghouls have been attacking steadily as the road clearing team has gotten closer to Canson. Nothing that they can’t handle, but it has been delaying the mission. Enough so that Sgt. Major Miller said that we might get in another week of basic. Which for some of these people that signed up need it. There are at least 5 people that I would not trust with a gun watching my back. Not that they would turn on us just probably shoot someone or themselves by accident. Time for lights out now the sandman is calling my name.

The military with a group of others town folk  fixed up the old obstacle course from the summer camp for us to test on. Everything from a mud pit with barb wires run across it to a giant wooden wall for us to climb. Then there was a firing range setup. Though because bullets are at a premium right now it was bb guns. The final was a ran up and down all of Daikon today while wearing a 20 pound pack. The important part is I made the cut even missing part of my hand! (more…)
